Welcome to Early Learning Victoria Wimbi

[00:00–00:04]
We open on a wide, aerial shot of the Early Learning Victoria Wimbi centre, sweeping slowly from left to right. Along with the centre, we see sprawling school grounds. The soft haze of morning light casts long shadows across the dry grass on an oval and cricket pitch. The rooftop of the Wimbi early learning centre reflects the morning golden hour sun.

[00:04–00:07]
Continuing the drone viewpoint, pulling back over the roof of the centre and showing the outdoor areas and sandpits from above, the animated logo for Early Learning Victoria fades up over the shot. It’s a soft purple stylised Leadbeater possum holding a yellow star, paired with bold purple text. We can hear familiar morning native bird sounds and ambient outdoor noise in the background. Houses and gum trees stretch toward the horizon beyond.

Voiceover BERNADETTE (V.O.):
“My name is Bernadette Burns, and I am the Centre director here at Early Learning Victoria, Wimbi…”

[00:07–00:09]
A slow tracking aerial shot glides downward toward the entrance of the building. The morning light flares into the lens briefly as it catches the roofline and edges of the centre’s warm-toned façade.

[00:09–00:10]
We see a Centre manager in a pink shirt open the glass door for a parent and their young child. The parent gently guides the child forward. Inside the hallway, children’s art and learning displays are visible.

Voiceover BERNADETTE (V.O. continues):
“One of the things that I'm really proud of as a centre director for Early Learning Victoria is a transformation…”

[00:10–00:13]
Mid-shot of Bernadette Burns, outside among the Australian native gardens of the Wimbi centre. She is wearing a black blazer over a lilac top, speaking directly to camera.

On-screen text appears, bottom right corner:

Bernadette Burns
Centre director
Early Learning Victoria Wimbi

Voiceover BERNADETTE (continues):
“…and the rethinking approach, where we are really looking at that streamline of transition from early learning to school.”

[00:15–00:23]
A smooth tracking shot moves diagonally forward through a bright and airy centre room. Children play at low tables, some standing, some seated. A young girl in a red jumper explores puzzle pieces while others nearby are focused on board games and tactile activities. The furniture is natural timber and the walls display soft greens and hand-made materials. As the camera moves, we see a wider view of the room. Multiple children interact across small zones, immersed in free play. In this shot, an educator is assisting a group of kids at a low table.

[00:23–00:28]
We now cut to Rajpal Kaur, seated in the same outdoor garden space as Bernadette was. She wears a maroon patterned top and speaks gently and clearly to camera.

Voiceover RAJPAL (V.O.):
“We have a play based child-centred pedagogy…”

On-screen text appears, bottom right corner:

Rajpal Kaur
Kindergarten teacher
Early Learning Victoria Wimbi

Voiceover – RAJPAL (continues):
“…and it aligns with my values and belief. And there's a big focus on children learn through play...”

[00:28–00:30] (intercut with above VO)
As VO continues for the next few shots, we now see a close shot of a table activity:
Rajpal is assisting a small child in a red jumper. She sits beside Rajpal, both heads bowed over a collage project. This is glimpsed through a window strip that divides rooms. The camera pans down and we see the child, still focused, carefully cutting a food magazine page while Rajpal gently guides her fingers. A jar of colourful scissors sits nearby on the table.

[00:30–00:33]
Cut to two children seated on the carpet with magnetic construction tiles. One blonde boy builds a vehicle while the other stacks triangular pieces with curiosity and focus.

[00:33–00:35]
Overhead shot pulling back slowly. Rajpal sits cross-legged with an open book in front of her on a patterned mat surrounded by children. Some lie on cushions, others sit cross-legged too. The children listen and engage with quiet attention.

[00:35–00:38]
We now cut to a joyful girl in a red Esprit jumper, standing proudly beside a board game at a low table. She points at the game then turns to face the camera with a proud smile. A plush grey bunny sits on the chair beside her.

[00:38–00:40]
We cut to outside again and a young girl in a lavender ribbed t-shirt and deep purple sun hat sits at a low table, concentrating intently as she builds a tower with plastic connecting stacking blocks. Her gaze is focused and calm, both hands being used to disconnect a yellow and a red block from each other before placing one block atop the growing tower of rainbow and primary colours.

[00:40–00:44]
We cut back to a mid-shot of Rajpal Kaur seated outdoors in the Wimbi garden space. She faces the camera directly with her posture upright and welcoming. Behind her, soft native grasses sway. She uses her hands as she speaks, conveying warmth and confidence. The natural backdrop and her steady tone together reinforce the nurturing, grounded philosophy she shares.

Voiceover RAJPAL (continues):
“…we promote children to initiate and direct their own learning and take ownership in their decision making…And we have large open ended play spaces for children to freely explore and engage in their learning environment…”

[00:45–00:46]
We cut to a close-up of a child’s hands gently arranging colourful geometric puzzle pieces into a wooden frame. The child's red jumper sleeves, with ruffled edges, frame the shot as she carefully presses down a triangle. Yellow, green, purple and red pieces are visible.

[00:46–00:49]
The young blonde girl in a watermelon-pink shirt appears again, very close to camera but out of focus, creating a soft, dreamlike portrait. Her features are just visible to us – wide eyes, pursed lips, then smiling. In the distance, another figure is softly blurred.

[00:49–00:51]
Cut to a low-angled shot on a patterned blue mat indoors. A blonde-haired boy with blue eyes, in a black shirt, turns his head as if responding to something off-screen. He is surrounded by two other boys, one in a blue shirt, another just partially visible. They’re engaged in play with tactile materials or games just outside the frame. The mood is curious and social. In the background, an educator stands gently watching over the room.

[00:51–00:53]
The dark-haired girl who was playing with blocks before is shown again, wearing her soft purple shirt and matching purple Early Learning Victoria hat. She carefully places a bright green block on top of a tall tower of blocks. Each block is a different colour, including a distinctive rainbow-striped one. Her gaze is concentrated, tongue slightly pressed to her cheek, her hand steady. The playroom behind her is softly blurred, filled with natural light and neutral timber tones.

[00:53–00:56]
We now cut to a dynamic tracking shot, following a young girl with dark hair in a white top and bright red pants as she runs with excitement through the open-plan learning environment. The camera trails her from behind, capturing her energetic motion as she passes timber cabinetry, shelves, and play spaces. The perspective shifts from her back as she begins running, to a side angle showing her face mid-laughter, to a wide angle where other children are also seen running ahead into the open corridor. This movement creates a joyful sense of freedom and flow through the space.

[00:56–00:59]
Now we see two children, a boy in a blue t-shirt and the same girl in her pink top, embrace tightly near a small table. Their arms are wrapped around each other’s shoulders, heads resting against one another. A third child nearby watches with a soft smile while engaged in her own tactile play. The background features aprons on hooks, a couch, and fun learning details that enhance the warmth and spontaneity of the moment.

[00:59–01:02]
We cut as the camera moves in close to a light table and pans left as some children continue their exploration. The blonde girl in a pink shirt stands at the right of frame, her face turned slightly in concentration. Next to her, a boy in a navy and blue long-sleeve top rests his chin in both hands, gazing intently at the illuminated objects before him. His elbows are on the table, his expression one of deep thought and curiosity. Around them, small natural elements like moss, magnifying glasses, leaves, glow under the light, drawing their focused attention. Behind them, another child leans over, continuing the group’s collective investigation. The whole moment feels rich with inquiry and quiet wonder.

[01:02–01:10]
We now cut back to the outdoor section of the centre again. A woman in a green dress with puffed sleeves (Kate, a parent) sits speaking directly to the camera. The landscaped garden and fencing behind her give a calm, natural backdrop.

KATE (V.O.):
“The reports I'm hearing from my children about Wimbi is that they love to play. They love their educators…”

On-screen text appears, bottom right corner:

Kate
Parent
Early Learning Victoria Wimbi

KATE (V.O. continues):
“…It’s good to have that stepping stone of, you know, learning to play outside, playing with the materials you’ve got…”

[01:10–01:13]
The boy and girl who were hugging before are now being followed from behind as they run through the centre playing a game. The boy points into a new room they are entering, looking at camera and smiling. Another little girl in red leggings and a grey top runs excitedly into the room ahead of the boy and girl.

[01:13–01:15]
We now cut to a close-up of the little girl with the Esprit top, now with both hands on her cheeks, smiling serenely and rubbing in sun cream, her eyes closed in contentment. Light from the windows reflects off her skin. She throws her arms wide in excitement. Her smile grows and she turns to the side, proud and playful.

[01:15–01:18]
Back to Kate, as she continues her story.

KATE (V.O.):
“As it’s grown…”

[01:18–01:22]
We cut to a young girl in a purple hat and watermelon-themed shirt swinging joyfully forward and backward on a playground swing. Sunlight filters through the shade sails overhead. Mid-swing, the girl laughs as she sails toward the camera, the motion giving a slight fisheye effect. The outdoor play area is visible behind her.

KATE (V.O. continues):
“…it is very nature friendly. It’s all about the outdoor play but also bringing it inside as well, which is nice. There’s a train set which is popular in the four-year-old room, and it’s not just about letting them build the trains…”

[01:22–01:26]
Staying outside, we now cut to a new scene. Two girls in floral hats are playing in the sandpit, scooping with buckets and spades. Toy dinosaurs dot the landscape. The camera moves through nearby leaves to reveal them. Cut to close-up of their focused expressions as they dig together happily. One girl wears pink stripes, the other grey. Their hats are vibrant with red and pink flowers.

[01:26–01:31]
We cut to a young boy in a helmet as he rides an orange trike. The camera follows closely from behind as he winds between landscaped garden beds and soft wood chip paths. The camera glides smoothly as he turns the corner, the centre’s fencing running parallel in the background. Trees and low shrubs line the path. Cut to another tracking shot from behind. The boy rides onto a decked wooden platform past a toy kitchen set. Stainless steel pots and utensils rest nearby.

KATE (V.O. continues):
“It’s like, ‘How about we draw a map? How are we going to do planning?’ So, they break it down to the levels that they want or something that they’re interested in…”

[01:31–01:32]
Now we see a different child (the blonde boy in the black shirt from the earlier shot). Now he’s in a red helmet on a trike. The shot tracks from the side as he pushes energetically past a building, smiling as his hair flies in the wind.

[01:32–01:36]
Cut to a reverse tracking shot from ground level moving upwards - a girl rides toward us on her trike, full of speed and energy. We cut to a side shot tracking left as she goes past us. Her cheeks flush with joy as she glances briefly to the side.

[01:36–01:38]
We cut inside. A top-down view shows a round tray of brightly coloured plastic bottle caps. Children’s hands dive in to explore them — a flurry of movement and colour. The hands begin to sort and group the lids. Some roll and clatter like beads. Colours blend and shift across the tray — reds, blues, yellows, purples.

[01:38–01:41]
Cut to a pair of girls at a meal table inside. The blonde girl with the pink watermelon top reaches across the table with tongs to place fresh watermelon and other fruit on her plate. The other girl adjusts her plate, watching closely.
KATE (V.O. continues):
“So, when we drop my daughter off in the morning, she runs through those glass doors. She approaches her educators. I know she’s comfortable.”

[01:41–01:43]
Still inside the classroom at the table, the blonde girl looks at camera, holding a slice of apple near her face, playfully offering the apple to us. Her eyes are sparkling in the light.

[01:43–01:45]
Close-up on a young boy at the same meal table, using the black plastic tongs to also serve himself a slice of fresh watermelon from the shared fruit platter. He concentrates intently on the task, leaning forward in his chair. His small hand steadies a teal plate while the tongs hover above it. We can see child-sized wooden chairs and learning materials in the background.

[01:45–01:46]
Cut to outdoors. A quiet, reflective moment as the little girl in a purple wide-brim hat who we saw earlier gazes softly off-screen. Her face is lit warmly by the sun. Behind her, the world is softly blurred from focus — other children, wooden structures, and a freestanding play panel fade into light. Her expression is calm and thoughtful, eyes wide with gentle curiosity.

[01:46–01:48]
Cut to an indoor care area. A baby with blond hair and large blue eyes is nestled closely against an educator’s chest, carried in a soft sling. The baby’s head turns slightly as the adult reads aloud from a picture book — The Very Cranky Bear visible in the background. Soft floor cushions and a richly patterned blue rug fill the reading nook. The shot begins with a high angle over the baby’s head and moves downward and slightly left. As it settles, the baby’s face comes into full view; wide blue eyes staring directly into camera with quiet alertness, hand curled gently on his carer’s shoulder. The atmosphere is calm, intimate, and trusting.

BERNADETTE (V.O. resumes):
“Early Learning Victoria are definitely at the forefront of changing the way we look at early childhood education…”

[01:49–01:51]
Cut to a joyful close-up of the same infant, now in a different scene. The baby’s face is lit with delight, big eyes wide and sparkling, a broad smile, mouth open. One hand is extended in motion, slightly blurred from the movement. The soft green of the baby’s shirt and the warm light in the room create a gentle, happy atmosphere. The background is out of focus, pulling all attention to the emotion on the baby’s face.

[01:51–01:53]
Cut to a new angle - the same baby, now seated upright on a textured blue mat in a playroom. They look with wide-eyed fascination at a wooden arch toy with dangling rings in front of them. The baby leans forward, one hand planted firmly for balance, the other slightly lifted in curiosity. The room is softly lit, and wooden shelves and more baby-friendly toys sit in the background. The child’s intense gaze suggests discovery and wonder.

[01:52–01:55]
Cut back to Bernadette once again in the landscaped play area, speaking directly to camera. She’s wearing the same black blazer and lilac top seen earlier.

BERNADETTE (V.O. continues):
“…And I myself couldn't be prouder to be working with them.”

[01:55–01:58]
Cut to a playful low shot of the little girl we saw earlier applying the sunscreen. She’s in a purple hat and her red Esprit jumper, lying belly-down on a padded blue see-saw structure in the outdoor yard. Her face is turned to the side, resting peacefully, eyes closed as if pretending to nap. As the moment continues, she grins suddenly, turning toward the camera, clearly enjoying the playful moment. Her legs kick up behind her as the padded beam sways slightly with her movement. She laughs, then hides her face behind her purple hat, knees raised and body swaying gently. The outdoor play yard behind her remains softly blurred, filled with light and warmth.

[01:58–01:59]
Cut to the now familiar blonde girl in the watermelon-printed pink top who rises cheerfully into frame from below, smiling brightly as she waves toward the camera. She stands in front of a row of young garden plantings and timber stakes, bathed in warm sunlight. The background shows more of the Wimbi centre’s outdoor area, shaded walkways, tanbark, and building structures dappled in afternoon light. Her wave is wide and joyful, a warm farewell gesture to close the video.

[01:59–02:00]
The screen fades into a rich gradient of Early Learning Victoria’s signature purple. A subtle drop-down effect animates the purple band from the top of frame, transitioning us into the branded outro.

[02:00–02:03]
The gradient recedes downward to reveal the Early Learning Victoria logo centered on a soft grey background. The Early Learning Victoria logo sits beside bold purple text: Early Learning Victoria. In the lower right corner, we see the black logo for Victoria, The Education State. We also see a call to action:

Learn more at earlylearning.vic.gov.au

[02:03–02:05]
The Early Learning Victoria logo and background colour animates left and dissolves, revealing a clean black screen. Centered on this screen in soft grey is the Victoria State Government logo with a triangular "V" mark. Below, the fine text reads:
Authorised by the Victorian Government, Melbourne.

[02:06]
Final moment: black screen remains. Video ends.
