Your new centre's name

In consultation with Bunurong Traditional Owners, Early Learning Victoria Laak (pronounced LARK) has been chosen as the name of the new early learning and childcare centre at Hallam Primary School. Laak is a Boonwurrung word meaning sky.

During the planning, design, and construction phases, the centre was known by its interim name, Early Learning Victoria Hallam.

About the centre

We have opened a new early learning and childcare centre at Hallam Primary School. It’s run by Early Learning Victoria, a Victorian Government organisation. We offer long day care and integrated kinder for 102 children each day. Early Learning Victoria Laak currently also offers a sessional kindergarten program.

The centre also has:

  • a consulting room for child and family services, such as maternal and child health and allied health
  • a multi-purpose room for community meetings and playgroups.

Programs

We offer high-quality childcare and kinder in Hallam. Families can apply for:

  • Long day care (childcare): 102 places for children aged 0-6.
  • Integrated kinder: Kinder plus long day care, offering flexible drop-off and pick-up within an 11-hour day
  • Sessional kinder: Only attending kinder hours and days, school terms only. Register for free sessional kindergarten by visiting the City of Casey website.

Ratios

All our centres comply with national standards for educator-to-child ratios:

  • For babies and children under 3 years old, this means 1 educator for every 4 children.
  • For children aged 3 years and above, this means 1 educator for every 11 children.
