- Family income: An estimate of your total family income before tax. This is the same as the estimate you give to Services Australia.
- Free Kinder offset: Based on applying the annual Free Kinder amount over 40 weeks.

- Pre-Prep hours: Pre-Prep programs are only available at some centres. This is because Pre-Prep is rolling out gradually, area by area.
- Children from priority cohorts may be eligible for Pre-Prep sooner.
- Check if your child is eligible for Pre-Prep, then talk to your centre director to confirm availability and hours.
- Activity test: Estimates do not account for CCS eligible hours from the CCS activity test. For details, refer to Services Australia. Calculations for children attending full-time (5 days per week) assume a 10-hour daily session to align with the CCS maximum of 100 hours per fortnight.
- Withholding percentage: Services Australia holds back 5% of your Child Care Subsidy to avoid overpaying you. At the end of the financial year, they check your actual income and adjust your subsidy. You can change this percentage in your Centrelink Online account.
